When I first started working for a PC Repair business my boss gave me a sure-fire way to tell the difference between a hardware problem and a software problem. Hardware means hundreds or thousands of dollars, software just means finding the bug to fix it.
It is as simple as this:
- Hardware problems will cause your system to malfunction on an irregular basis.
- Software problems will cause your system to malfunction on a regular basis (it crashes/breaks at the same moment every time.)
Software problems can be fixed much more often than hardware problems. A hardware problem means that something is physically wrong with the computer while a software problem means that something is wrong with the program executing on the computer.
Use this tool to be able to make a simple diagnosis of your computer when something goes wrong. It will give you an accurate diagnosis 95% of the time.
